La Cornue oven element and broiler replacement

Every vaulted gas oven on this make carries an electric broiler above it, and the electric ovens are elements throughout. That means a range can lose browning and keep baking perfectly, or the reverse, and the two are separate parts.

How this visit actually goes

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

  1. 01

    Establish which function is gone

Browning, baking or both. On a dual-fuel range this also tells us which side of the range we are working on.

  2. 02

    Measure the element

Resistance cold and current under load. Open circuits are obvious; a partially failed element is not.

  3. 03

    Check the terminals and supports

Where elements actually burn out, and where a replacement will fail early if the cause is left.

  4. 04

    Fit and route it correctly

An element sitting against the cavity or fouling a shelf runner is a repeat visit.

  5. 05

    Run both functions

Bake and broil, to temperature. Half a test finds half the problem.

Applies to

  • A tall electric wall oven built into a run of warm oak cabinetry, its door standing fully open on an empty cavity with a circular fan grille on the back wall and three wire shelf runners either side.
Vaulted ovens and convection ovens — gas, electric, and the Tourelle wall oven

La Cornue oven repair in Miami

There are three different ovens on this make and they fail in three different ways. The vaulted gas oven cooks by radiant heat inside a sealed dome and has an electric broiler over it. The vaulted electric oven sits on the other side of the same range. And since 2025 there is a standalone one: the Château Tourelle, a fully electric multifunction wall oven in 60 and 75 centimeter widths, built to sit in a cabinet run next to a Château cooktop. Which of the three you have decides everything about the repair.

    • Vaulted gas, vaulted electric and the electric Tourelle wall oven
    • Gas ovens carry an electric broiler — browning and baking can fail separately
    • Thermostat drift is measured against a probe, never adjusted by feel

  • A heavy hand-built enameled range cooker photographed low from its front left corner in a bright cream kitchen, the deep colored enamel of the flank filling the left of the frame, a brass rail and a row of round brass knobs running away from the camera, two oven doors below, adjustable feet on a warm oak floor.

La Cornue range repair in Miami

The range is what La Cornue makes, and everything else in the line exists around it. A Château is built to order in France, arrives in a crate weighing over half a ton, and is assembled from parts a customer chose one at a time: which oven is gas and which is electric, whether the top carries a French top, a lava-rock grill, induction or a teppanyaki plate, which of about fifty enamels, which trim metal. Two of them are almost never identical. That is the first thing a repair on one has to take seriously — the model number tells you the size, and the configuration code tells you what is actually under the lids.

    • Dual fuel, all gas or all induction — three different ranges, three parts lists
    • The configuration code, not just the model, decides what is on the top
    • Made-to-order enamel and trim are part of the job, not an extra

About La Cornue oven element and broiler replacement

About elements and broilers on this make

Every vaulted gas oven here carries an electric broiler above it and the electric ovens are elements throughout, which means a range can lose browning and keep baking perfectly, or the reverse. Two circuits, two parts, and the symptom says which. Elements are measured cold and under load rather than inspected, and the terminals and supports are part of the job — that is where elements actually burn out, and a burnt terminal block will destroy a new element as efficiently as it destroyed the old one.

Questions about La Cornue oven element and broiler replacement

Only the top browns. One element or two?

One, almost certainly, and that is good news: the broil circuit works and the bake circuit does not. Tell us which function still works and the right part travels with us.

Should you replace both while you are here?

Usually not, and we will not push it. Elements do not wear out in sympathy and the second one probably has years left. The exception is an oven where both have visibly discoloured on a range that has done decades — then doing both saves a second labor charge, and we will say so and let you decide.

Tell us the model number and what it is doing.
