La Cornue hood lighting and remote repair
Three 20-watt high-intensity lamps on the Château hoods, LEDs on the newer inserts, and two separate control paths — in-hood activation and a remote. A hood that answers its own buttons but not the remote is a receiver, not a motor.

How this visit actually goes
The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.
-
01
Try both control paths
Which one works is the diagnosis, and it is one sentence on the phone.
-
02
Establish which path works
In-hood buttons, remote, or neither. That single answer decides the part.
-
03
Lamps and sockets
Three 20 W high-intensity lamps on a Château hood, LEDs on the inserts. Two out at once is a socket or supply problem.
-
04
Receiver and batteries
A hood that answers itself and not the remote is a receiver problem, and often a battery one.
-
05
Test all four speeds and the lights together
Control problems hide in the combination rather than in either alone.

The hood over a La Cornue is not an accessory bought to match. A motorized Château hood starts at $17,400 for the 90 and runs past $25,000 for the Grand Palais 180, it is made in the same enamels and trims as the range, and it does real work: a 600 CFM blower on a four-speed variable motor, baffle filters with a grease capture system, three 20-watt lights and a remote. When one stops, the kitchen it was built for stops working properly.

- A hood is finished to match the range — the enamel is part of the repair

About La Cornue hood lighting and remote repair
About hood lights and controls
Three 20-watt high-intensity lamps on the Château canopies, LEDs on the newer inserts, and two separate control paths — in-hood activation and a remote. Which of the two still works is the diagnosis, and it is one sentence on the phone: a hood that answers its own buttons but not the remote is a receiver or a battery, not a motor. Single lamps are often a customer job and we say so; two or three out at once is a socket or a supply problem and worth a visit.

Questions about La Cornue hood lighting and remote repair
Can I change a lamp myself?
Usually yes. Power off, hood cool, and expect a stiff cover. The range's oven lamp too — La Cornue's own guide states it is not a warranty part and tells you to ask for a G9 halogen at any electrical shop. Stop if a new lamp does not light or if several went at once.
The remote has stopped entirely.
Change the battery first: free, thirty seconds, and the answer more often than anybody admits. If the in-hood buttons still work and a fresh battery changes nothing, it is the receiver, which is an ordinary part.
