Does La Cornue Make Refrigerators, Cooktops or a 30-Inch Range?

No refrigeration, and there never has been — La Cornue builds cooking appliances only: ranges, the vaulted ovens inside them, rangetops and hoods. Yes to cooktops, but the honest word is rangetop: the range's own top sold separately as T40 to T48, dropping into a counter with no ovens beneath it. No 30-inch range: the smallest is the 23.6-inch Castel 60 and the next size up is the 29.5-inch Castel 75, so 30 inches falls in the gap. And yes to all-electric, in two forms — the Castel 60 is a four-zone induction hob with an electric multifunction oven, and the Château Tourelle is a standalone fully electric wall oven in 23.5 and 29.4 inch widths.

Does La Cornue make refrigerators? Four questions, and why they get asked

These come up in searches constantly, and not because people are confused. They get asked because the answers are genuinely counter-intuitive for a company at this price point: the badge is on a very short list of appliances, and the words the industry uses do not map neatly onto what La Cornue builds.

Everything below is from the maker's own January 2026 price and specification guide.

Refrigeration: no, and there never has been

La Cornue makes cooking appliances. Ranges, the vaulted ovens inside them, rangetops, hoods, a gas rotisserie module, and cabinetry. There is no refrigerator in the catalog, no freezer, no wine cabinet, no ice maker.

There is also no dishwasher, no laundry and no microwave.

What confuses the picture is that these ranges sit in kitchens designed around them, and the rest of the room is often made to match — panels, hardware, and La Cornue's own *Cuisine de Château* cabinetry. A fridge with a matching door in a La Cornue kitchen is a fridge from somebody else wearing a matched panel.

This matters practically. Our site covers five appliance types and stops there. A company offering to service your La Cornue refrigerator is telling you something untrue before it arrives, which is a reasonable thing to notice about a company.

Cooktops: yes, but the word is rangetop

La Cornue sells the top half of the range on its own, as T40 to T48 — the Castel 60 rangetop through to the Grand Palais 180 rangetop. Same brass burners, same power burner, same plaque coup de feu, same lava-rock grill, same induction and teppanyaki options, same configuration codes.

The differences from a range:

  • 200 mm high, dropping into a counter, rather than a full range on adjustable legs;
  • no ovens, and therefore no oven thermostats, no vaulted cavities and no door seals;
  • much lighter — a T47 is about 130 lb uncrated against 290 lb for the range.

So every cooktop repair is the same job and no oven repair applies. And the T40 is all-induction by definition: a four-zone hob with integrated controls and a flush integrated backsplash.

One more thing under this heading, because it is asked separately: there is no separate induction *cooktop* product in the way other makers sell one. The induction is either a module in a mixed top or the whole of a T40 or a Castel 60.

A 30-inch range: no, and here is the gap

The sizes are in centimeters, and 30 inches lands between two of them.

ModelWidthInches
Castel 60600 mm23.6
Castel 75750 mm29.5
Grand Castel 90900 mm35.4
Château 1201200 mm47.2
Châtelet 1351350 mm53.15
Château 1501500 mm59.1
Château 1651650 mm65.0
Grand Palais 1801800 mm70.9

If you have a 30-inch opening, the Castel 75 at 29.5 inches is the model, with half an inch to spare. There is nothing at exactly 30.

Worth knowing while you are here: the 60, 75 and 90 carry two of the maker's own names. The January 2026 price list calls them Castel 60, Castel 75 and Grand Castel 90 in its index and price lines, and Château 60, 75 and 90 in its own specification headings on the same pages. Neither is wrong. If your dealer said one and your paperwork says the other, they are the same range.

Electric: yes, two ways

The Castel 60 is not a gas range at all — a large induction hob with four cooking zones, integrated induction controls and an electric multifunction convection oven.

Any Château with the all-induction cooktop. Available on the 150, 120, 90 and 60, and when it is specified the ovens are always electric, without exception. That is a rule on La Cornue's order form. So a fully electric La Cornue can be a 59-inch range with five induction zones and two electric ovens.

And the Château Tourelle, since November 2025: a standalone fully electric multifunction wall oven, F60 and F75, at 23.5 and 29.4 inches wide, built into a cabinet run to a cutout specification. It exists, it has its own installation guide, and the brand research most sources repeat still says La Cornue makes no standalone wall oven.

What we repair, then

Ranges, ovens, cooktops, rangetops and hoods. Five appliance types, 47 model codes, and the whole of what this make builds. It is a shorter list than our full-line sites carry and the pages behind it are longer, which is the honest shape for a manufacturer that does one thing.

If it turns out to be a repair

Every job on this site is priced the same way: an on-site diagnostic first, the figure agreed in writing before anybody starts.

    Cooktops and rangetops

A La Cornue cooktop is a set of modules chosen at order time and dropped into a stainless frame: brass gas burners at 17,000 and 7,500 BTU, a 22,000 BTU power burner, the cast-iron plaque coup de feu heated by a single burner underneath, a lava-rock grill, ceramic-glass induction zones, an electric teppanyaki plate. This is the top of a range, and each module is a different repair. Sold on its own without ovens beneath it, the same top is a rangetop, and it has its own page.

    Ranges

The range is what La Cornue makes, and everything else in the line exists around it. A Château is built to order in France, arrives in a crate weighing over half a ton, and is assembled from parts a customer chose one at a time: which oven is gas and which is electric, whether the top carries a French top, a lava-rock grill, induction or a teppanyaki plate, which of about fifty enamels, which trim metal. Two of them are almost never identical. That is the first thing a repair on one has to take seriously — the model number tells you the size, and the configuration code tells you what is actually under the lids.

    • Dual fuel, all gas or all induction — three different ranges, three parts lists
    • The configuration code, not just the model, decides what is on the top
    • Made-to-order enamel and trim are part of the job, not an extra

Questions people ask about this

I have seen a La Cornue refrigerator online.

What you have almost certainly seen is a fridge with a custom panel and hardware made to match a La Cornue kitchen, or a cabinetry piece from the Cuisine de Château range. La Cornue makes cabinetry, and its own catalog and price list contain no refrigeration of any kind. A repair company advertising La Cornue refrigeration would be advertising an appliance the manufacturer has never made.

Is a rangetop the same as a cooktop?

Close enough to search for and different enough to matter. A rangetop is the top half of a range — the same modules, the same brass burners, the same plaque options — dropped into a counter with nothing underneath. It is 200 mm deep in the counter rather than a full range, and it has no ovens, no oven thermostats and no door seals. So the cooktop repairs are identical and the oven repairs do not exist.

What is the smallest La Cornue?

The Castel 60 at 600 mm — 23.6 inches — which is all-induction with an electric multifunction oven. The next is the Castel 75 at 750 mm, or 29.5 inches. If you have space for exactly 30 inches, the 75 is the model to look at, and both names for it are the maker's own: the price list says Castel 75 and its own specification heading says Château 75.

Does La Cornue make an electric stove?

Yes, and two different ways. The Castel 60 is electric throughout. And any Château ordered with the all-induction cooktop has electric ovens on both sides, by rule of the order form — so a 150 or a 120 can be a fully electric range without being a small one.
