### Can you just adjust it instead?

No. A gas valve is either sealing or it is not, and the two things people mean by "adjust" — lubricating a stiff taper and easing a seat — are both ways of hiding a problem for a few weeks. If a valve is passing gas with its knob off it comes out, and if it is stiff it is rebuilt or replaced.

### Is this covered by anything?
