# La Cornue induction hob: the hob is completely dead, which the maker attributes to the supply rather than the appliance

### What the appliance is actually doing

A hob with no display and no response at all is not, in La Cornue’s own account, an appliance problem in the first instance. The guide gives one explanation for it: over-voltage or loss of supply voltage to the cooker. That is worth knowing before a service call, because the checks are upstream of the range — the breaker, the isolator and the supply — and because a dead display on an induction hob and a dead display with a latched U400 mean two different things.

### Quoted rather than interpreted

>
Over voltage or loss of supply voltage to the cooker.

From the CornuFé 110 induction installation and user guide (U111136-03, January 2023), in a User Guide & Service Manual downloaded from La Cornue’s own site. Nothing on this page is decoded beyond what that sentence says.

### Which machines this one applies to

La Cornue induction cooktops and rangetops, and the electric and multifunction ovens. La Cornue publishes three codes in the whole of its US documentation and its Château guide carries no troubleshooting section, so a behavior missing from this archive is not proof that your appliance cannot do it — the maker simply never wrote a table for it. What its guides do document, they document in sentences, and those are on this site under the maker’s own wording. The model number, and which top the range was ordered with, settle what any of it means.

### What to do about it

- Check the breaker and any isolating switch for the range. This is the whole of the maker’s own answer.
- Look at whether anything else in the kitchen lost power at the same time.
- Note whether the cooktop went dead during use or was found dead. During use points at supply or protection; found dead points at something switched off.
- If the supply is proved good and the hob is still dead, have it measured at the appliance.
- On an all-induction range remember the ovens are electric too — whether they also died is useful information.

### Where this goes next

The job this usually becomes is [cooktop control and wiring repair](/services/cooktop-control-and-wiring-repair/), and every one of those pages carries a starting figure and the reasons that move it. If it turns out to be nothing — and on this make a real share of these are modes rather than problems — the visit ends there and you pay the diagnostic and nothing else, or call [(305) 614-3699](tel:+13056143699) and describe what the display is doing before booking anything.
